Joint committee and worker representative responsibilities: First aid
If you’re a worker health and safety representative or member of a joint health and safety committee, you have specific responsibilities related to first aid.
Joint committees and worker representatives must:
-
Participate in first aid assesments. Your employer must consult with you during the assessment process, and you will need to review the documented assessment. You may be asked to contribute to or conduct one or more steps in this process.
-
Get input from other workers when needed. If you aren’t familiar with the workplace or the types of injuries or exposures that could occur, you should talk to workers who are.
You should also be aware of other people’s first aid roles and responsibilities across your workplace.
