Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2)

The first aid certificates shown here are accepted in B.C. workplaces. These examples should help you determine if a worker has proper certification to be the designated first aid attendant. Key elements that must be included in the certificate shown below:

  • Agency name
  • Certificate level
  • First aid attendant name
  • Expiry date
  • Unique certificate number
  • Issued in B.C., or B.C. out of jurisdiction certificate

Intermediate First Aid - Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse*

*Restricted to use in health care settings - see OHS Guideline G3.15-1 Nurses acting as first aid attendants in health care facilities.
OFA Level 2 - Physician or Registered Nurse*

*Restricted to Health Care Facilities - see OHS Guideline G3.15-1 Nurses acting as first aid attendants in health care facilities.
OFA Level 2 - Emergency Medical Assistants First Responder**

WorkSafeBC Level 2 EMA Licensing Board (EMALB) First Responder Ticket
**Restricted to Municipal Fire Service only. Valid only if signed by a fire chief. See OHS Guideline G3.15(b)-2 Municipal fire departments.

Intermediate First Aid certificates issued by MedAire are valid for inflight crews only and not transferrable to other sectors or industries, including ground crews.
