Inspections and prevention activities

As part of our initiative to reduce the serious injury rate by applying resources and efforts where they will be most effective, our officers are inspecting workplaces and conducting consultation and educational activities.

Inspection-based engagements
Q1–Q4 2023

  • Planned inspections of selected locations will focus on risks from the strategic focus areas that are most applicable to each location
  • Musculoskeletal (MSI) risks will be discussed as appropriate
  • Officers will follow up as needed to assist employers in strengthening their safety management systems to reduce their risks

Combustible dust workplace inspections

  • A group of wood products manufacturing employers will receive at least one inspection by officers

  • Introduce new educational resources for employers and workers on the hazards associated with struck-by mobile equipment and vehicles

  • Selected employers in the classification units listed below will be contacted to discuss their primary serious injury risks, their safety management systems, and joint health and safety committee or representative involvement related to their risk assessment and risk reduction initiative.
