Introduced under Bill 41, Workers Compensation Amendment Act (No. 2), 2022, the fair practices commissioner provides a second level of independent review if a complaint from a worker, employer, or worker’s dependant has not been satisfactorily resolved by the Issue Resolution Office.

On May 1, 2026, Simmi K. Sandhu was appointed as the fair practices commissioner.
