Introduced under Bill 41, Workers Compensation Amendment Act (No. 2), 2022, the fair practices commissioner provides a second level of independent review if a complaint from a worker, employer, or worker’s dependant has not been satisfactorily resolved by the Issue Resolution Office.

On May 1, 2023, Allan Seckel was appointed as the first fair practices commissioner. As of September 26, 2023, he is receiving submissions from employers, workers, and dependants of workers.
