Consequential policy amendments to implement the Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2020 (Bill 23)

The Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2020 (Bill 23) received Royal Assent on August 14, 2020, bringing 32 legislative changes immediately into effect. In order to implement these changes, WorkSafeBC had to bring its policies in line with the legislation.

At issue in this consultation were proposed changes to policy in the Prevention Manual, Assessment Manual, and Rehabilitation Services & Claims Manual, Volume II, to ensure the policies do not contradict the Bill 23 amendments to the Act that are now in effect.

The Policy, Regulation and Research Division prepared a discussion paper explaining the proposed consequential policy amendments, and stakeholders were invited to review the paper and draft policies, and to provide feedback.

Proposed deletions of policy wording are identified with a strikethrough and additions are highlighted in bold.
