Asbestos training and certificates

In 2022, the provincial government introduced amendments to the Workers Compensation Act that include requirements that asbestos abatement contractors must be licensed to operate in British Columbia, and that employers ensure that workers who perform asbestos abatement work complete mandatory safety training and obtain certificates. WorkSafeBC is now accepting expressions of interest from training providers who wish to be approved by WorkSafeBC to deliver asbestos abatement training. Learn more.
