Report suspected fraud

WorkSafeBC relies on your help to prevent and detect fraud. When you suspect fraud, you can easily report it to us online using the links below, or by phone, email, fax, or mail. In order to allow us to efficiently conduct a thorough, fair, and objective investigation, please include:

  • Name and address of the person or business you suspect has committed fraud
  • Details about the fraudulent activity you suspect
  • Any other information pertaining to the suspected fraudulent activity

Providing us with your contact information is helpful in case we need to ask you for more details about the suspected fraud. However, you can remain anonymous if you prefer.

Fraud can be committed in many ways. Some examples and links to report online are below. If you prefer to report by email, phone, fax, or mail, please contact our Field Investigations team.

Report fraud

Report claimant/worker fraud

Examples include:

  • False or misleading information claiming that an injury is work-related
  • Exaggerating an injury or delaying return to work to continue receiving WorkSafeBC benefits
  • Working and/or earning income while receiving WorkSafeBC benefits
Report employer fraud

Examples include:

  • Intentionally failing to register a company with us
  • Intentionally under-reporting payroll and/or misclassifying workers in a lower rate class or as contractors
  • Failing to report workplace injuries to WorkSafeBC
Report service provider fraud

Examples include:

  • Submitting fictitious receipts or invoices for payment
  • Billing for goods or services not provided

All information you provide to WorkSafeBC is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
