Certificates accepted in B.C.

The first aid certificates shown here are accepted in B.C. workplaces. These examples should help you determine if a worker has proper certification to be the designated first aid attendant. Key elements that must be included in the certificate shown below:

  • Agency name
  • Certificate level
  • First aid attendant name
  • Expiry date
  • Unique certificate number
  • Issued in B.C., or B.C. out of jurisdiction certificate
  • Basic First Aid (OFA 1)
  • Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2)
  • Advanced First Aid (OFA 3)
  • Paramedic in Industry
  • Transportation Endorsement

Certificates are listed in reverse alphabetical order according to the name of the issuing agency (in other words, from Z to A).

Paramedic in Industry

The following Emergency Medical Assistants (EMA) Licensing Board licenses are displayed as samples of licenses that must be presented with a Paramedic in Industry certificate to be considered valid. The EMA licenses by themselves do not meet the certification requirements for the Workers Compensation Act as a certificate recognized by the board.
