Published on: August 18, 2023

Here is information to help you to continue accessing our services, and stay healthy and safe at work during the current wildfire situation in B.C.

Contacting us

Please continue to contact our call centres for support. Wait times to reach our Claims Call Centre and Teleclaim may be longer than usual, so we appreciate your patience.

Signing up for direct deposit

To ensure your payments continue to reach you in the event of mail delivery disruptions due to the wildfires, we encourage you to sign up for direct deposit if you’re:

  • An injured worker who is receiving monthly benefit cheques or short-term disability payments from WorkSafeBC, or payments from WorkSafeBC’s Vocational Rehabilitation Services
  • A family member of a deceased worker and you’re receiving survivor benefits

Through direct deposit, your payments are automatically transferred into your bank account, giving you peace of mind. And you don’t have to visit a bank to deposit a paper cheque, allowing you to stay safely at home. It’s convenient, secure, often faster, and it’s one small way to reduce your environmental footprint.

  • Learn how you can easily and quickly sign up for direct deposit online.
  • If you are a worker who has been displaced by the wildfires and are awaiting payment from WorkSafeBC, please call our Claims Call Centre at 604.231.8888 or toll-free at 1.888.922.8807.

Accessing treatment programs

Please talk to your health care provider and claims officer (or our Claims Call Centre if you don’t have your officer’s contact info) to discuss options if your treatment program, or your ability to travel to your treatment program, is affected by the wildfires.

Workplace health and safety information and resources

Employers have obligations related to emergency response planning, as well as ways to reduce exposure to wildfire smoke for indoor and outdoor workers. WorkSafeBC has several key health and safety resources related to wildfires.
