The Policy, Regulation and Research Department (PRRD) presented a discussion paper and BOD-approved policies to the Policy and Practice Consultative Committee, posted them on WorkSafeBC’s website, and distributed the website link directly to over 10,000 subscribers of WorkSafeBC’s Regulation, Guideline and Policy Updates email distribution list, for consultation and feedback. Notice of the consultation was also posted to WorkSafeBC’s official Twitter account on a rotating basis between early March and April 16, 2021.

Generally, stakeholders sought additional changes to the policies, mostly from representatives of the worker stakeholder community.

The PRRD received 14 submissions: 10 from a worker perspective, 4 from an employer perspective. This document is a reproduction of the stakeholder comments.

At its July 2021 meeting, the Board of Directors opted to maintain the status quo and make no further changes to policy: policy changes approved on December 9, 2020 and effective January 1, 2021 continue to be applicable.
