BOD Decision -2013/12/11-02 – Osteoarthritis of First Carpo-Metacarpal Joint in Both Thumbs of Physiotherapists

Complete Resolution

On December 11, 2013, the Board of Directors (“BOD”) approved the retirement of Workers Compensation Reporter series Decision No. 231 (1977), 3 W.C.R. 87 from policy status, and the deletion of the specific reference to osteoarthritis of the first carpo-metacarpal joint of both thumbs in physiotherapists from policy item #26.02, Recognition under Section 6(4.2), in Volume II of the Rehabilitation Services & Claims Manual.

These changes came into effect on December 11, 2013, and apply to all claims where the date of disablement is on or after December 11, 2013. Decision No. 231 continues to hold policy status and be applicable in decision-making for all claims where the date of disablement precedes December 11, 2013.

The retirement of Decision No. 231 from policy status completes the project to retire Decisions 1 — 423 of the Workers’ Compensation Reporter series from policy status undertaken by the former Panel of Administrators in 2000.
