The Panel approved a new policy that allows the WCB to pay the fees charged to a worker by the Public Trustee or Committee for managing the worker's entire estate. Policy #49.30 of the Rehabilitation Services and Claims Manual allows the WCB to pay these fees where the worker's inability to manage his or her own affairs results from a work-related injury or disease. An objective of workers' compensation is to provide adequate compensation to workers who have suffered work-related injuries. Payment of the Public Trustee and Committee fees under the new policy will ensure that workers receive the benefits they're entitled to under the Act.
