Discussion Paper - Prevention Policy Consolidation

Appendix A

In 2000, the Policy and Regulation Development Bureau ("Bureau") embarked on a project to consolidate all prevention policy into the new Prevention Manual. The other sources of prevention policy were 272 items in the Prevention Division's Policy and Procedure Manual and 33 decisions from volumes 1 - 6 of the Workers' Compensation Reporter ("Reporter").

As of August 30, 2002, 209 policies from the Policy and Procedure Manual were consolidated and/or retired. There were therefore 63 polices from the Policy and Procedure Manual and the 33 prevention decisions from the Reporter remaining to be considered.

The Bureau was considering how best to bring the prevention policy consolidation to completion. To assist the Bureau in this consideration, it asked which of the remaining policies and decisions stakeholders used in identifying their rights and responsibilities with respect to prevention matters, how they used each policy or decision, and the frequency with which they used it.

The Explanatory Note sets out the background to this request in more detail and how to access the remaining policies and decisions in order to respond to the request.
