Workers’ Compensation Reporter Decisions

The Workers’ Compensation Reporter was published between 1984 and 2006 to highlight important decisions and documents. It includes decisions of the Board of Directors and selected decisions of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Tribunal (WCAT). It also includes key decisions of the Courts on matters affecting the interpretation and administration of the Workers Compensation Act.

Workers' Compensation Reporter decisions (No. 1–423 in Volumes 1–6)

Decisions 1–423 in Volumes 1 to 6 of the Workers’ Compensation Reporter (WCR) series were adopted as published policy of WorkSafeBC’s then Board of Governors in 1991. The WCR decisions consisted primarily of decisions of the former Commissioners on various matters decided between 1973 and 1991.

In 2000, WorkSafeBC’s then Panel of Administrators undertook a strategy for consolidating the WCR Decisions into the various policy manuals, as appropriate, and “retiring” the WCR decisions from policy status. To search the retired WCRs, see Workers Compensation Reporter Decisions No. 1-423 in Volumes 1-6.

Workers' Compensation Reporter (Volumes 7–21)

Decisions contained in Volumes 7 to 21 of the Workers’ Compensation Reporter series are not considered to be policy.

On March 3, 2003, Bill 63 was introduced, changing the appeal structure. The Appeal Division and the Review Board were replaced with the Review Division and the WCAT. As well, on January 1, 2003, the former Panel of Administrators was replaced with the Board of Directors. These changes are reflected in Volume 19.
