Provider Portal changing from BCeID to WorkSafeBC account login
WorkSafeBC is changing the way that health care providers log in to our Provider Portal (administered by Telus). We need providers to update their BCeID account with a current email address by April 10 (the deadline has been extended from the original March date).
The provincial government is decommissioning the BCeID authentication platform (the platform currently used for Provider Portal accounts) in 2025. As a result, we’re replacing the BCeID platform with our own worksafebc.com account platform to ensure you’ll have seamless portal access.
What do I need to do?
If you’re a health care practitioner or administrative staff member who accesses our Provider Portal, please log in to your BCeID account and update it to include your email address as your preferred contact method by April 10.
Once you’ve updated your email address in BCeID, we’ll create your new worksafebc.com account on your behalf April 11–12. We’ll use your email address to send you information about your new worksafebc.com account and portal login at that time.
On April 13, the new authentication system will go live and providers will need to use their worksafebc.com account to log in to the Provider Portal. Providers who haven’t updated their account by April 10 will lose access to the portal and may experience service delays, such as issues with receiving referrals, uploading reports, or accessing disclosures.
What steps do I need to take?
Follow these steps to add an email address to an existing BCeID account:
- Log in to Manage Account.
- Enter your personal BCeID user ID and your password, then click Continue.
- Select Contact Preference.
- Under Preferred Method of Contact, choose Email, and enter your email address in the space provided. If you already have a worksafebc.com account for My Provider Services, please use the same email address.
Once you’ve added an email address to your BCeID account, we’ll create a worksafebc.com account for you and send you an email with additional instructions.
For more detailed instructions, including screenshots, see Adding or changing your email in BCeID. If you encounter any issues or have questions, please contact us at HCPSupport@worksafebc.com.
Frequently asked questions
How will I know if my worksafebc.com account has been successfully created?
If you’ve updated your BCeID account with your email address by the April 10 deadline, WorkSafeBC will create your new worksafebc.com account on your behalf April 11–12.
Once your account has been created, you’ll receive a confirmation email from us with instructions to reset your password.
What happens if I don't update my BCeID account by the April 10 deadline?
If you don’t update your BCeID account to include your email address by April 10, you will not be able to log in to the WorkSafeBC Provider Portal after April 13.
Once BCeID has been replaced with the worksafebc.com account login on April 13 you will need to self-register on worksafebc.com. To do so, please follow these steps:
- Create your account at online.worksafebc.com.
- Update your BCeID account at Log in to Manage Account with the same email address as your preferred contact method, following the steps outlined above.
- Allow 2 to 5 business days for your account to be created. Your Provider Organization Administrator will receive a confirmation email once the account has been created. If you encounter access issues after this period, please contact HCPSupport@worksafebc.com.
What should I do if I’m an existing WorkSafeBC “My Provider Services” portal user?
Even if you’re an existing worksafebc.com user, you still need to update your email address in your BCeID account before April 10. This will ensure that your new account is properly validated.
Ensure the email address you use to update your BCeID account is the same email address you use to access your existing WorkSafeBC My Provider Services account.
