Changes to Personal Optional Protection coverage amounts in 2024

Published on: October 30, 2023

WorkSafeBC Personal Optional Protection (POP) is an optional insurance plan, designed to cover your income loss if you’re injured at work. While a work-related injury or illness can be devastating to both you and your family, it can take an even heavier toll if you don’t have enough insurance to cover basic living expenses.

With increases to B.C.’s minimum wage, we need to ensure employers with POP insurance have sufficient coverage in the event of a work-related injury or illness. As a result, we’re making some changes to the POP coverage amounts next year.

To learn more about these changes, which will take effect on January 1, 2024, please see Personal Optional Protection: Changes to coverage amounts in 2024.
