Layout engineers play an important role in ensuring the safety of fallers and other workers. Learn more about how engineers can reduce hazards through cutblock design.

Faller Safety

Layout Planning: A Focus on Faller Safety brings together layout engineers, fallers, and WorkSafeBC officers to illustrate the different hazards layout engineers may identify during their planning process, and how these hazards can be reduced through cutblock design. The video also highlights the value of communication and collaboration between engineers and harvest crews.

The video focuses on identifying hazards related to:

  • Faller isolation
  • Non-linear boundaries
  • Retention
  • Tree lean
  • Small openings
  • Rock bluffs
