Published on: October 11, 2019

The contribution of small businesses to B.C.’s economy and our local communities is invaluable. This revised resource is designed to help small business owners understand the basics when it comes to health and safety in B.C.

Health and Safety for Small Businesses: A Guide to WorkSafeBC

As a small business owner in B.C., knowing what you’re supposed to do when it comes to health and safety can seem overwhelming. Health and Safety for Small Businesses: A Guide to WorkSafeBC is designed to help you understand your legal responsibilities. It outlines insurance requirements, such as registering your business with WorkSafeBC and applying for coverage. It also discusses your health and safety responsibilities, including how you can prevent injuries and what to do if there is an incident.

The guide was updated from an earlier edition (Small Business Primer) to reflect current regulations, procedures, and resources.

Health and Safety for Small Businesses: A Guide to WorkSafeBC is available to download or to order in print from the WorkSafeBC store. The guide is available in English, with additional languages to follow.

The updated information is also available in an online, interactive web book format, which contains text and video and can be viewed on a computer or a mobile device.
