Broadband alarm survey

Published on: October 19, 2017

We’re looking to understand the effect alarm signals may have on worker safety, and to understand perceptions workers may have about the broadband signal.

You can help by completing this short survey.

Many employers in B.C. are replacing the conventional, “beep-beep-beep” back-up alarms on their vehicles with a new type of alarm, called a “broadband” or “white noise” alarm. They use the same cadence, but broadcast a range of frequencies, rather than the single frequency that’s typically used in conventional back-up alarms.

While these new broadband alarms technically meet WorkSafeBC’s occupational health and safety requirements, they haven’t yet been evaluated in the context of the workplace.

Your feedback will be invaluable to WorkSafeBC’s evaluation of this issue. If you have any questions about the survey, please email humanfactors@worksafebc.com.
