POA Decision – 2002/12/17-01 – Fishing Industry Assessments

The Panel of Administrators approved amendments to the Board's policy on fishing as provided in Policy Item AP1-4-1 of the new Assessment Manual. The amendments are consequential to the amendment that the Panel approved in October 2000 to the Fishing Industry Regulations. The amendment to the Regulations permitted the Board to collect assessments on fish bought by, or sold to people and organizations that are not registered to buy fish commercially in British Columbia. More specifically, the amendment allowed the Board to collect assessments from persons or organizations that transmit payments to B.C. commercial fishers. The amendments to the Assessment Manual are designed to bring the Board's policy on fishing in line with the Regulations. The amendments took effect on January 1, 2003.
