Compensation Practice Directive: #C9-13 — Short-Term Average Earnings – Workers with Variable Earnings

This Practice Directive provides guidance on determining the short-term average earnings for a worker with variable earnings. Generally, a three-month period is used to calculate the short-term wage rate for a worker with variable earnings. In some cases, WorkSafeBC may use a shorter or longer period of time, or adjust the time period for determining average daily earnings, if it determines this is a more accurate reflection of the worker’s time of injury earnings.
