Indigenous Leadership in Structural Firefighting: Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders in British Columbia

The objective of this project is to utilize best practices in Indigenous leadership development to aid in examining the state of First Nations structural firefighting leadership capacity in BC – specifically as it relates to managing and leading occupational health and safety program and service delivery in First Nations-led structural fire departments.

This project will utilize a mixed methods approach consisting of qualitative interviews followed by a customized quantitative survey, and supplemented by a literature review on Indigenous leadership and structural fire management and supervision.
