During WorkSafeBC’s consultation on proposed policy changes to reflect the Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2011 amendments to the mental stress provisions in the Workers Compensation Act, stakeholders raised questions as to:

• how the time limits for an application for compensation apply to claims for compensation for mental disorders where there are multiple events or cumulative stressors; and
• when WorkSafeBC will consider special circumstances to have precluded the filing of an application such that extensions beyond the one year time limit will be granted.

At issue was whether policy revisions were required to address these two questions.
