Bill 9 of 2015 made a number of legislative changes to Part 3 of the Workers Compensation Act (Act).

The goal of the changes was to improve workplace health and safety and strengthen the tools that WorkSafeBC uses to enforce the Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, by implementing recommendations from Gordon Macatee’s WorkSafeBC Review and Action Plan, released in July 2014.

This primer is a high-level summary of the changes made to WorkSafeBC’s ability to use stop-work orders. These changes came into effect on May 14, 2015.
