This research project aims to design and evaluate upper body protection for arborists to protect against chainsaw kickbacks, when climbing, using a bucket lift, or doing work on the ground. A secondary objective is to create personal protective equipment which is comfortable, non-restrictive, and has high visibility, arc, and flash resistance. Arborists from the City of Vancouver’s Urban Forestry Department will provide user-testing to confirm functionality (e.g., range of motion, comfort) and provide iterative feedback during the design process.
