New video focuses on choosing the right ladder for the job

Published on: April 16, 2026

Safe ladder use starts before you climb. This video explains how selecting the right ladder—and setting it up and using it properly—helps keep everyone safe at work.

Side‑by‑side images showing ladder use in different environments: on the left, two workers in high‑visibility safety vests and hard hats climbing a yellow extension ladder at an active construction site with cones and building materials; on the right, a person climbing a yellow step ladder indoors in a finished commercial space with tiled walls and countertops.

Our new video, Choose the Right Ladder and Use It Safely, is designed for workers who use ladders on the job. It covers safe work practices such as checking the manufacturer’s label and instructions, inspecting ladders for damage, securing ladders during use, and maintaining three-point contact while climbing. It also highlights when stepladders or extension ladders are appropriate for the task and when a work platform may be a safer option.

Employers are responsible for ensuring workers have the information, instruction, and equipment needed to work safely.
