Review of WorkSafeBC Rehabilitation and Claims Services policies

Published on: April 25, 2018

In January 2018, the WorkSafeBC Board of Directors retained an external consultant, Paul Petrie, to conduct a review of the WorkSafeBC Rehabilitation and Claims Services policies.

The purpose of this review was to assess current policies to determine if there are policies that could be amended to ensure a worker-centred approach wherever practicable. Mr. Petrie was asked to consult with external stakeholders and internal staff and provide recommendations to the Board on possible changes to rehabilitation and claims policies.

The Board has now received Mr. Petrie’s report and will be reviewing and considering the recommendations that have been made. As per standard processes on policy development, formal stakeholder consultation will be undertaken on potential policy amendments.

The report, Restoring the Balance: A Worker-Centred Approach to Workers' Compensation Policy can be accessed here.

As this matter continues to be under review, WorkSafeBC will not be commenting further on the report at this time.
