Concrete pump operators must now be certified
As of January 1, 2024, amendments to Part 20 of Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, relating to concrete pump operators, are in effect. Under the new rules, no one may operate a concrete pump or placing boom at a workplace unless they hold a valid concrete pump operator certificate, issued by a certification authority approved by WorkSafeBC.
If you are an employer and have not yet certified your crew, the equipment can be operated under the supervision of someone with a valid concrete pump operator certificate until the rest of your crew gets certified. Operator training must be specific to the class or type of concrete pump or placing boom being operated.
