Claims & Rehabilitation

The Workers Compensation Act (Act) and related regulations provide the legal framework for the workers compensation system in B.C.

WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors sets policy related to occupational health and safety, insurance premiums and claims and rehabilitation issues to guide the application of the Act. WorkSafeBC and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal must apply these policies when making decisions.

Practice Directives provide guidance to decision makers on specific matters and serve to support quality decision making. Practice Directives highlight key adjudicative considerations consistent with the objective/principle of a particular legislative and/or policy requirement.
