Young Worker Speakers Program
Mike Shaw’s passion for freestyle skiing has been with him from a young age, leading him on a path that would eventually see him coach some of Canada’s most promising up-and-coming skiers. In 2013 while coaching in Colorado, he miscalculated a routine jump. The crash paralyzed him from the neck down. Despite doctors telling him he may never walk again, one year later to the day, Mike was back on his skis. He now travels around North America working with students and athletes to help them improve their safety and performance. “If I can help prevent one accident like this from happening to someone else, I will be fulfilled.”
