Policy Development Framework
Under the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors’ mandate includes developing compensation, assessment, and prevention policies. The Policy, Regulation and Research Division (PRRD) is responsible for providing researched policy options to assist in fulfilling this role.
The Policy Development Framework outlines the role of policy in the workers’ compensation system in B.C. and describes WorkSafeBC’s approach to policy development. This includes how policy issues are identified and prioritized, as well as information about the policy development, consultation, and approval processes.
A strong policy development process is critical to the effective execution of WorkSafeBC’s statutory responsibilities and mandate. The PRRD strives for excellence and continuous improvement of its processes and work product to ensure consistent and high-quality policy to support the workers’ compensation system in B.C.
