Guidelines — Occupational Health and Safety Regulation

  • Part 8 - Personal Protective Equipment
    • Footwear
      G8.22(2.1) High heels New Item
The footwear regulation includes a requirement that workers' footwear allows workers to safely perform their work. The factors that were formerly considered to determine appropriate "protection" must now be considered more broadly to determine appropriate "footwear." Tripping and potential for musculoskeletal injury have been added to the list of factors that must be considered. A new section, 8.22(2.1), has been added to the footwear regulation, which prohibits employers from requiring workers to wear inappropriate footwear.
