A. Where and when is the public hearing held?

2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

B. How do I provide comments?

Individuals and organizations can provide comments on the proposed amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (“OHSR ”), by making a written submission and/or by presenting in person at the public hearing. Written submissions and the transcripts from the oral presentations will be posted on WorkSafeBC's website. These are releasable under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

C. How do I make a written submission?

What format should I use?
Written submissions should include the following information:

  • Name of submitter(s) or organization, as applicable
  • Contact mailing address
  • Daytime and evening contact numbers, and email address, if possible

Files attached to email submissions should be sent in Microsoft Word, Rich Text (RTF), or ASCll formats.

Alternatively, you may deliver your submission to the public hearing location during the hearing sessions.

What is the deadline for submissions?


Written submissions must be received by WorkSafeBC by 4:30 p.m. on November 4, 2005. Submissions will not be accepted after the deadline.

D. How do I make an oral submission?


How do I register to speak at the hearings?

To make an oral submission, please register by calling 604-232-7744 or 1-866-614-7744 (toll-free in British Columbia). Registration for oral presentations will be taken by phone only. Only one presentation from an organization or individual will be permitted.

The amount of time allotted per person or organization will be up to 10 minutes per topic to a maximum of 20 minutes in total for all topics.

When registering, the following information will be requested:

  • Name of presenter and organization
  • Day and evening contact phone numbers
  • E-mail address
  • Mailing address
  • Is presenter a worker or employer
  • Preferred session time (afternoon or evening)
  • Specific Regulatory Amendment Item(s) that will be addressed in the presentation

You will not be given a hearing time when you phone in to register. You will be sent confirmation of the hearing time allocated to you.
