Notice of rescheduled 2006 public hearings for proposed amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation
January 2, 2007 Update: Public hearings have been rescheduled for Kelowna and Nanaimo in January 2007. The Board of Directors, at its December 2006 meeting, directed that these public hearings be rescheduled to ensure stakeholders have the opportunity to provide input at these locations on the proposed regulation changes. Hearings at these locations were cancelled in November 2006 due to severe weather conditions.
Following the public hearings in May 2006, the Board of Directors approved additional public hearings for the fall of 2006, as part of the 2006 regulatory review process, to consider proposed amendments to:
- Part 3, Rights and Responsibilities, relating to the orientation and training needs of young or new workers;
- Part 4, General Conditions, relating to prepayment at service stations in urban areas during late night and early morning hours, and
- Part 6, Substance Specific Requirements, relating to safety-engineered devices for all hollow bore needles and other medical sharps.
Please note that proposed deletions in the regulatory amendments are identified with a strikethrough and additions are identified in bold.
