Consolidation of Prevention Policies - Assessment Policy Manual Policies relating to Prevention Matters

2001/06/19-05

THE WORKERS' COMPENSATION BOARD OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

RESOLUTION OF THE PANEL OF ADMINISTRATORS

Re: Consolidation of Prevention Policies - Assessment Policy Manual Policies relating to Prevention Matters

WHEREAS:

Pursuant to Section 82 of the Workers Compensation Act ("Act"), RSBC 1996, Chapter 492 and amendments thereto, the Panel of Administrators ("Panel") must approve and superintend the policies and direction of the Workers’ Compensation Board ("Board"), including policies respecting compensation, assessment, rehabilitation and occupational safety and health, and must review and approve the operating policies of the Board;

AND WHEREAS:

The policies respecting occupational health and safety ("prevention policies") are found in a variety of sources;

AND WHEREAS:

In response to direction from the Panel, the Policy and Regulation Development Bureau has initiated an "editorial" consolidation project to review all prevention policies not found in the Prevention Manual, and bring forward recommendations to the Panel for consolidation in the Prevention Manual and/or repealing or retiring as appropriate;

AND WHEREAS:

The Bureau has reviewed the Assessment Manual and has identified several policies relating to prevention matters ("the Policies");

AND WHEREAS:

Although the Policies are informational in nature and do not require consolidation in the Prevention Manual, they do require updating to reflect the Workers Compensation (Occupational Health and Safety) Amendment Act, 1998 ("Amendment Act");

AND WHEREAS:

The Bureau has presented recommendations to the Panel with respect to amending the Policies to bring them into consistency with the Amendment Act;

THE PANEL OF ADMINISTRATORS RESOLVES THAT:

The amendments to Policies 10:30:00, 40:50:40, 40:50:60, 40:70:40. 60:10:00 and 60:20:00 of the Assessment Policy Manual, as set out in the attached Appendix "A", are approved.
This resolution is effective August 1, 2001.

DATED at Richmond, British Columbia, July 17, 2001.
