RESOLUTION OF THE PANEL OF ADMINISTRATORS

April 23, 1998

Re: Impact of Assessment Department Restructuring
on the Assessment Policy Manual



WHEREAS:

Pursuant to Section 82 of the Workers Compensation Act, RSBC 1996, Chapter 492 and amendments thereto (the "Act"), the Panel of Administrators (the "Panel") must approve and superintend the policies and direction of the Workers' Compensation Board (the "Board"), including policies respecting compensation, assessment, rehabilitation and occupational safety and health;

AND WHEREAS:

Section 86(1) of the Act authorizes the appointment of "officers and other employees" to carry out the business and operations of the Board and the prescription of their duties;

AND WHEREAS:

There are extensive references to specific Board officers and clerical staff and the roles they play in the Assessment Policy Manual;

AND WHEREAS:

The Assessment Department is proposing a restructuring in the department as part of the Employer Services Strategy that will provide a responsive, customer service oriented registration service to employers and increased efficiency;

AND WHEREAS:

A policy decision is required by the Panel to amend the Assessment Policy Manual to reflect the title changes of staff positions under the restructuring of the Assessment Department;

THE PANEL OF ADMINISTRATORS RESOLVES THAT:

The Assessment Policy Manual be amended.
