Pursuant to Section 82 of the Workers Compensation Act, RSBC 1996, Chapter 492 and amendments thereto (the "Act"), the Panel of Administrators (the "Panel") must approve and superintend the policies and direction of the Workers' Compensation Board (the "Board"), including policies respecting compensation, assessment, rehabilitation and occupational safety and health;
In response to a request from the Assessment Department of the Board, the Classification Committee has recommended the 1998 Industry Assessment Rates be amended so all fibreglass boat contractors are placed in the same subclass;
The Policy Bureau, after consultation with stakeholders, has recommended that the fibreglass boat construction industry be re-classified from subclass 072101 to 060419;
The Board has authority pursuant to the Act to create and rearrange classes under Section 37(1) and (2) and to adjust assessment rates under Section 42 of the Act;
The 1998 Industry Assessment Rates subclass description of subclasses 060419 and 072101 are amended as follows:

Mfg., Construction or Repair of Aluminum, Plastic, Fibreglass , Ferro Cement or Wooden Boats, Canoes or Rowboats (under 42 Feet in Length), or Fibreglass boats (regardless of length).072101
Construction or Repair of Wooden, Aluminum, Plastic, Fibreglass or Ferro Cement Vessels of 42 Feet or More in Length, N.E.S.This amendment is retroactive to the 1998 assessment rate year which took effect January 1, 1998.
