Policy decision finalized at the October 2008 WorkSafeBC Board of Directors meeting

Section 3(7)(b) Coverage for Students Participating in Work Experience in Independent Secondary Schools
On October 7, 2008 the Board of Directors passed a resolution extending coverage under section 3(7)(b) of the Act to independent secondary school students engaged in work study programs as deemed workers of the Crown in right of the Province. This ensures students in independent secondary schools receive the same coverage and protection as students in public secondary schools while completing their work study/work experience graduation requirements.
The resolution comes into effect January 1, 2009.
