WorkSafeBC policy in the Rehabilitation Services and Claims Manual Volume II provides guidance on determining short-term average earnings for workers.
At issue is whether or not insurance proceeds should be considered earnings when determining a worker’s short-term average earnings, if the worker sustains a work-related injury while participating in a non-WorkSafeBC Return to Work program.
At their meeting on July 17, 2008, the Board of Directors approved the release of a discussion paper with options and proposed policy to stakeholders for comment. Proposed policy wording is identified in bold.
