New or revised occupational exposure limits for 2007

Each year, the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) publishes a list of substances for which they have set new or revised threshold limit values (TLVs). In accordance with section 5.48 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR), these new or revised TLVs are automatically adopted unless the substance is listed as an excluded substance or has otherwise been excluded by WorkSafeBC. A TLV or occupational exposure limit (OEL) is the exposure limit which is the maximum allowed airborne concentration for a particular substance.

WorkSafeBC is requesting stakeholder feedback on the new or revised 2007 OELs, including revisions under consideration for excluded substances as listed in Policy R5.48-1. Based on the stakeholder feedback received, the Board of Directors of WorkSafeBC may consider an exception to the ACGIH TLV, or whether an ACGIH TLV should apply to a currently listed excluded substance.

As well, Policy R5.48-1 provides a complete list of excluded substances that have exposure limits other than the TLVs set by the ACGIH.

A complete list of all substances and their exposure limits can be found in the Table of Exposure Limits for Chemical and Biological Substances.

Your feedback on the new or revised 2007 ACGIH TLVs is welcome until 4:30 p.m. on September 28, 2007. You can submit feedback in the following ways:
