Traffic control persons (TCPs) put their lives on the line each day to keep co-workers safe and to keep traffic moving around road work and busy construction sites across B.C.
From 2008–2010, WorkSafeBC accepted 44 claims from TCPs in this province who were struck by vehicles or mobile equipment. Two of the TCPs were fatally injured.
Attached are statistics and descriptions for the 44 incidents.
In the March/April 2011 issue of WorkSafe Magazine, “One for the road” discusses best practices, training, and certification for traffic control persons.
