This site will look much better in a browser that supports web standards, but it is accessible to any browser or Internet device.

Richmond, B.C., December 14, 2005 — WorkSafeBC today announced the launch of its new web site designed to provide employers and workers with easier access to health and safety, compensation, rehabilitation, and insurance information.
The site, www.worksafebc.com, has been updated and enhanced with a new look and structure that enables users to find the resources they need more quickly and easily than ever before. The site includes information for employers, workers, and healthcare providers, including a host of online business tools that allow users to do business with WorkSafeBC 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Our new web site represents another step forward in our drive to make WorkSafeBC more responsive to the needs of our stakeholders," said Sid Fattedad, vice-president of Finance, Information Services, and Stakeholder Relations for WorkSafeBC. An enormous amount of thought and consultation went into the redesign to create a site that's more practical, efficient, and easy to use.
The revamped site also better supports WorkSafeBC's mandate to reduce the incidence of work-related injury, illness, disease, and death in British Columbia. The Accident/Fatality Awareness section, for example, highlights some of the key statistics surrounding workplace accidents and deaths, helping to bring the safety message home. And a new section known as Spotlight Features allows WorkSafeBC to focus attention on new and important health and safety issues.
Throughout the development process, the new site was tested by WorkSafeBC stakeholders, including employers, workers, and representatives from health and safety associations and labour organizations. We will continue to enhance and evolve WorkSafeBC.com based on the ongoing feedback we receive from our users, said Fattedad.
WorkSafeBC is an independent provincial statutory agency governed by a Board of Directors that serves nearly two million workers and about 179,000 employers. WorkSafeBC was born out of a compromise between B.C.'s workers and employers in 1917 where workers gave up the right to sue their employers and fellow workers for injuries on the job in return for a no-fault insurance program fully paid for by employers. The organization is committed to safe and healthy workplaces and to providing return-to-work rehabilitation and legislated compensation benefits.
