If you receive a cheque from WorkSafeBC, you’ll soon
be noticing a new look to our cheques.
We’re in the process
of redesigning them in order to meet the Canadian Payment Association’s
new design standards for cheque imaging.
By year-end, all WorkSafeBC-issued cheques will use the same colour paper—orange—and include our new name and logo. They’ll also have our address on both the cheque and stub.
Another significant change is the layout. In most cases, the position of the cheque and the stub has been reversed, with the cheque now on the bottom and the stub at the top. That way, if the cheque and stub aren’t separated properly, important bank information along the bottom of the cheque will not be lost. The only exception to this is health care cheques, which will have the new look and similar paper stock, but the order of the stub and the cheque will not change.
The new design standards have already been implemented in some areas of the organization, while others are now in progress.
The Canadian Payment Association introduced the new image standards as part of an initiative to adopt a new cheque clearing process based on cheque imaging. This will improve efficiency and allow financial institutions to provide customers with faster and more convenient access to cheque images.
