Rock 101 contest: Keep Bro Jake Safe on the Jobsite
WorkSafeBC, the B.C. Construction Safety Alliance, and Rock 101 joined forces in the summer of 2011 to raise awareness about jobsite safety.
Listeners of the classic rock radio station were encouraged to visit its website for a workplace safety contest. Contestants were asked to identify three safety hazards in a photo of host Bro Jake at work, for a chance to win a limited-edition Rock 101 hard hat. A hat was given away each day of the contest. Participants were also automatically eligible to win a grand prize of lunch for their crew.
In B.C., the construction industry sees more than its fair share of jobsite injuries. In fact, construction is one of the top four high-risk industries in this province.
