Certificates of Recognition (CORs)

CORs can be earned by employers that successfully implement a safety management system and meet a set of audit standards. There are two types of CORs that can be earned:

Health and Safety COR

The Health and Safety COR - the foundation of the Partners Program - is awarded to employers that implement and maintain an occupational health and safety management system that exceeds regulatory requirements.

Injury Management/Return-to-Work COR

A COR Program review recently concluded and the immediate outcome is a temporary freeze of Return to Work (RTW) COR certification until there is a new audit tool and auditor training is revised.

Effective January 1, 2013:

  • In order to be considered for a new RTW certification in 2013, employers must contact their certifying partner by Feb 28, 2013 and must complete their RTW audit by June 30, 2013.
  • Employers already RTW certified are allowed to continue doing maintenance audits in 2013 and 2014, if applicable.
  • Those employers needing to re-certify their RTW in 2013 can use the existing audit tool but will be required to transition to the new tool/process once it is available.

For information on RTW activity initiated before the freeze, contact your certifying partner or the Partner’s Program line, toll-free at 1 866 644-6164 across B.C. or 604 644-6164 in the Lower Mainland.
