Nursing services

WorkSafeBC nurse advisors are members of the Clinical Services team in WorkSafeBC's Worker and Employer Services division. They apply their interpersonal and professional skills as well as their knowledge of the workplace to establish return-to-work plans where appropriate for injured workers. This is done as early as possible in the time-loss claim to maintain the worker's bond to the workplace while he or she is recovering from the injury in keeping with good disability management practices.

Nurse advisors provide support by:

  • Working closely with the employer, injured worker, community physician, community therapists, and the claim officer to develop a safe and durable return-to-work plan.
  • Collaborating with vocational rehabilitation consultants to clarify job suitability
  • Assisting in identifying home support needs for seriously injured workers
