Expedited Surgical Services
Expedited Surgical Services enable surgeons to perform expedited, elective, daycare surgical procedures on injured workers. These services and resources include nursing and support staff, medications, supplies, and equipment.
The services are provided at surgical facilities which are accredited as a Class 1, Non-Hospital Medical/Surgical Facility by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
Service locations
Expedited Surgical Services are offered at WorkSafeBC-approved clinics throughout B.C.
Referral process
All surgical procedures must be pre-authorized by WorkSafeBC.
For referrals being made by specialists in the community, surgery must be pre-approved by a WorkSafeBC officer. To request authorization for expedited surgery, please submit an Authorization Request for Expedited Surgery. It is advisable that documented approval be received prior to booking the surgical procedure.
Pre-operative history/physical
A Pre-Operative History/Physical Form must be completed by a physician and received by the surgical facility prior to the surgical procedure being performed. A specialist consultation report will not be accepted as a Pre-operative history/physical.
