HST

Effective July 1st, WorkSafeBC will pay HST for all taxable goods and services.

As a service provider to WorkSafeBC, it is your responsibility to determine if your services/goods are subject to the HST.

If you will be invoicing WorkSafeBC for HST:

  • If applicable, indicate your GST/HST registration number in the invoice
  • HST should be indicated on your invoice for each item. The indication can either specify the HST amount, or be a clearly identified “indicator” (a checkmark, for example) to show that HST should be applied to this item.
  • If you do not indicate the HST per invoice item, your invoice will be processed as an exception.  This will result in delays in processing your invoice, and generating your payment.
  • Once your invoice is processed you will receive two separate payments from WorkSafeBC: one payment for the invoice items and a separate payment for the HST amount.

WorkSafeBC has revised its invoice forms to reflect the introduction of HST.  The revised invoice forms will be available on www.WorkSafeBC.com by July 1, 2010.

For more information about the HST, please see the Tax Information Notice issued by the Ministry of Finance. You may also wish to contact your accountant or the Canada Revenue Agency.

Reporting

Naturopathic physicians are required, under the Workers Compensation Act (the Act), to report to WorkSafeBC. There are two report templates: The Naturopathic First Report (8N) and the Naturopathic Physician's Final Report and Account (11AN). Online copies of Form 8N and Form 11AN can be printed, or ordered through WorkSafeBC's Forms Distribution.

Naturopathic Physicians First Report (8N)

Under the Act, this form must be submitted to WorkSafeBC within three business days of the initial visit, and when:

  1. You suspect your patient may be disabled beyond the date of injury
  2. The patient's claim is for:
    1. a back injury
    2. a hernia
    3. a shoulder or knee strain/sprain
    4. an occupational disease (e.g. repetitive strain injury, cancer, work-related asthma, work-related dermatitis)
  3. If worker's injury does not meet any of the above criteria but WorkSafeBC requests a Form 8 (Bill fee item 1100476)
  4. If a First Report should have been sent by criteria #1 and #2 being met, but was not, please fill out and submit a Form 8N to WorkSafeBC

Progress Reports

Currently there is no template for Progress Reports. Submit a Progress Report when:

  1. Your patient's condition has departed from your previously reported expected treatment plan and recovery (i.e. you are changing treatment or your patient is not recovering as anticipated)
  2. Your patient's disability duration is beyond usual recovery norms
  3. Your patient is ready for return-to-work intervention
  4. You need assistance from WorkSafeBC in any way
