Dietitians and WorkSafeBC

Pursuant to section 21 of the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC introduced a new dietitian fee schedule on July 21, 2008.

WorkSafeBC does not currently have a formal agreement with dietitians. Dietitians may be authorized to render health care services. When a worker in B.C. suffers an injury as a result of a workplace accident, WorkSafeBC pays the cost of appropriate treatment according to the fee schedule.

All dietitians providing treatment to injured workers are deemed to have accepted the terms of the dietitian fee schedule. Dietitians not wishing to accept these terms should not provide treatment to injured workers.

Dietitians must be registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia in order to provide services to injured workers.

Approval process

The WorkSafeBC officer must approve dietitian services.
