There are two sets of awards available to highly qualified graduate students at the master's and doctoral level, who are undertaking full time research on the prevention and/or treatment of occupational illness, injury and disability:
Both sets of awards are designed to support the development of research capacity in occupational health and safety in B.C. Research priorities for the program administered through the WorkSafeBC Research Secretariat are grouped under five themes.
Research projects whose themes are eligible for funding under the MSFHR/WorkSafeBC Research Training Awards should be applied for through the MSFHR. Under WorkSafeBC's Research Training Awards, priority is given to those projects whose themes are not eligible under MSFHR/WorkSafeBC Research Training Awards but fall under WorkSafeBC's research priorities.
However, as the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research has not yet announced a competition for 2010, students who would normally be eligible for MSFHR/WorkSafeBC Research Training Awards may apply directly to WorkSafeBC under the 2010 competition. Proposals must fall under WorkSafeBC’s research priorities.
Awards include a $20,000 stipend and a $2,500 research and travel allowance.
Application deadline: March 8, 2010, 4:00 p.m.
